Martina’s career path is a perfect mix of technical skills and business insight, growing alongside the changing world of banking and data. After years of building data solutions at BNP Paribas Fortis, she helped Axepta BNP Paribas Benelux with her IT and data expertise on an internal 4-year audit program. Now, leading the Business Transformation team at Axepta BNP Paribas Benelux, she guides a team of project managers, business analysts and business enablement experts to optimize operations and enhance services for Axepta BNP Paribas Benelux’ merchants. For her, success comes from aligning teams, processes, and technology to create real impact. 

A dual mission: “serve and transform… transform and serve” 

At Axepta BNP Paribas Benelux, Martina’s role is all about ”serve and transform… transform and serve.” She leads a diverse team to drive both small improvements and large-scale transformation projects but also to provide day-to-day support on run activities across Axepta BNP Paribas Benelux’ departments.  

Three pillars of the Business Transformation team 

Her team is divided into 3 different small teams, each with a distinct focus. The Business Enablement team acts as the daily partner of the business teams, offering hands-on support, change management and training, and process guidance while translating business needs into actionable change requests. The Business & Functional Analysts serve as the link between business and IT, turning requirements into a functional detailed analysis of the needs (e.g., system adjustments, data flows, reports) and discussing technical solutions with IT. Finally, the Project Managers ensure that bigger projects are delivered according to the defined scope, budget and timeline while keeping stakeholders informed at all time. Together they bridge the gap between daily operations and change, whether resolving business bottlenecks, facilitating adoption, providing hands-on training, refining processes and detailed work instructions, or launching tool enhancements.

The Business Transformation team forms a cohesive support system that drives strategic transformation. The key is clarity: each person must understand their role and how it connects to the bigger picture. By collaborating on shared topics, they’ll learn to value each other’s strengths, turning the team into a seamless, high-performing strong team.

As Head of Business Transformation, the dynamic mix of daily operational challenges and the opportunity to craft creative solutions for business users is what drives Martina. Her approach is rooted in a clear philosophy: ”Stronger together”, because collaboration amplifies impact, paired with a focus on continuous improvement. She believes in testing ideas and learning from failures. Leading cross-functional teams means embracing ”Never assume – always check” as a guiding principle, ensuring decisions are data-driven and inclusive. Resilience is key: don’t give up, but adapt, refine, and push forward. 

Balancing priorities: a puzzle of competing demands 

Balancing priorities is like solving a puzzle, each piece must fit just right to meet competing demands, and as a manager, Martina sees it as both a challenge and an opportunity. One lesson she’s carried through her career is to never give up. Time moves quickly when you’re engaged in meaningful work, especially when you’re constantly learning and refining your approach, because growth, she’s found, is the real reward.
